ParkWest Imaging provides the latest imaging technology for the evaluation of cancer, heart disease and Alzheimer’s with both Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Computer Tomography (CT) combined in a single, powerful, advanced diagnostic procedure.
For our outpatients, it offers the convenience of one exam instead of two with the combined diagnostic capability of PET and CT technologies for faster, more precise evaluations.
PET detects metabolic activity and identifies a disease process before structural changes become apparent. Combined with CT, our radiologists can now see detailed images of the size, shape and location of a disease process. The combination of CT renders a 3D anatomical structure enhancing the image for a more comprehensive diagnosis.
CANCER
PET/CT offers the highest sensitivity, specificity and accuracy available in cancer imaging today. It can detect cancer in its earliest stages, pinpoint exact locations and reveal stages more accurately. This fine imaging granularity prevents unnecessary biopsies, permits earlier more efficacious treatments and improves planning for radiotherapy or radiosurgery.
HEART DISEASE
PET/CT is an indispensable tool to evaluate heart disease and expedite early treatment. It measures the viability of myocardial cells for certain types of treatment and can determine the benefit of revascularization for patients with coronary artery disease and left ventricular dysfunction. PET/CT pinpoints compromised myocardial blood flow and can assist in follow-ups for cases of cardio-transplants.
DEMENTIA
Dementia is not a disease but a group of symptoms certain diseases have in common. PET/CT can definitively diagnose Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease. Verifying if dementia is Alzheimer’s or another form of loss is a critical first step. Our PET/CT imaging detects and confirms Alzheimer’s, or can distinguish symptoms from other causes of cognitive decline to assist in life planning and early treatment.
